PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION AT EDEN COURT GALLERY – INVERNESS (2014)
“SCOTTISH COLLECTIONS & MORE”
17/02/2016
This was my first formal exhibition; I had been invited to put together a collection of my work sufficient to cover all the three floors of exhibition space at the Eden Court Theatre - art gallery. I selected from my extensive library of work to provide a Scottish and particularly a highland theme. The exhibition was called “Scottish Collection & More” which allowed me to add in a few images from genres such as macro and marine and seashore.
The highlands are one of the most beautiful natural and wild places, where “nature is still in control”. Capturing those magic moments when nature can simply take your breath away makes photography so inspirational and exciting. The quotation I used to market and emphasis this exhibition was “The days have gone the moments have passed but they were captured in a heartbeat with camera and lens”.
It was brilliant to have Eden Court Gallery so supportive of photography, which is gaining interest worldwide as an art form and a very desirable modern form of wall hanging as opposed to the more traditional oil or watercolour framed paintings.
My exhibition secured some good press coverage from local newspapers and together with the marketing material and pre-exhibition notification by the gallery the visitor numbers were excellent and the volume of sales generate were extremely good.
