NORWAY
Norway.
When I was a young man I travelled around Norway and so it was nice to return after all those years. I did not venture as far north this time as I would have liked but it was still a great trip to some beautiful places.
The Norwegians are very friendly and I have always enjoyed my time in Norway. The scenery is naturally beautiful and wild and really appeals to me. Andalsnes was a place I had never visited before but it really was spectacular and the climbing and walking available in the area was fantastic.
Bergen was somewhere I had been many years ago and so getting reacquainted was very special, and Bryggen, the old wharf of Bergen is now a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and rightly attracts thousands of visitors, the harbour area brought back many good memories.
Olden was somewhere new for me to visit and I was glad it was on my itinerary, it truly is very beautiful and I hope my photographs do justice to the shear scale of the mountains and the glaziers. If you were making a trip to Norway I would recommend you add Andalsnes and Olden to your places to visit list.
Stavanger I had indeed visited before and my revisit was certainly just as memorable. The massive marina was not there in my earlier days and there seemed to be far more renovated old sail fishing boats, which was wonderful to see, very evocative.
