MADERIA - PORTUGAL
Madeira. Portugal
The Maderian archipelago lies in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Morocco and north of the Canary islands. The largest of these Portuguese islands some 600 miles southwest of Lisbon is the “Ilha da Maderia” (Island of timber) and the only other inhabited island is the tiny Porto Santo.
Funchal is the islands capital and is a charming place; I have visited it twice and have enjoyed it immensely on both occasions. Madeira is especially famous for flowers and it’s wine, the world famous Madeira Wine.
