Russia & St Petersburg.

Russia was a fantastic experience after all those years of the so-called “cold war” it probably seemed to be a country that was out of reach and maybe could be thought of as unwelcoming. Well how wrong can you be what a simply amazing destination and what a wonderful country it is.

My initial trip laden down with camera gear was to be St Petersburg but just by chance I had the opportunity to fly from St Petersburg to Moscow and visit Red Square, the world-famous St Basil Cathedral and the Kremlin. My English speaking guide made the trip a truly memorable adventure, she had been guiding for some twenty-five years and knew all the right people and how to get around Moscow with ease.

To find myself standing in “Red Square” and then inside the Kremlin walls with my camera equipment and the freedom to take photographs was simply one of the finest experiences I have been lucky enough to have.

And most certainly add Russia to your list of must see destinations, it is wonderful and the people I met and had lunch with were charming and friendly and fiercely proud of their country and its culture and history and rightly so.
