The Hawaii islands are an archipelago of eight major islands, several atolls and several smaller islets. The Hawaiian monarchy was over throne in 1893 and the United States of America annexed the islands in 1898, the US state of Hawaii now occupies the archipelago almost in its entirety.

They are without question very beautiful islands to visit, volcanic and still active they have become very popular despite this with adventurers and tourists and of course surfers. I visited the islands primarily to watch and photograph Humpback whales as they congregate with their young and feed, making ready for their arduous journey north to Alaska.
