SEVILLE - ANDALUSIA - SPAIN
Seville. Andalusia. Spain.
A name that conjures up wonderful and romantic mental images, flamenco, flower-filled patios, Spanish guitar players on balconies, dark-eyed senoritas with beautiful soft bronzed skin, glasses of wonderful wine and fine oranges as well as carriages drawn by exceptional Spanish horses. Seville seems to encapsulate the idea of the throbbing soul of Spain.
Well I was certainly not disappointed the image I had was more than fulfilled and I might add that I consumed one of the finest sea food paellas I have ever had. So much so I have often dreamt of returning to this very same restaurant for lunch and a glass of fine dry white local wine to go with another paellas.
The outstanding landmark is the “Giralda” the Moorish minaret nearly 300 feet high built in 1184 and turned into a campanile when the Moors were driven out and the cathedral was begun. I very much enjoyed Plaza de Espana - "Spain Square" built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The feel of this place and the wonderful Spanish tiles were a highlight for me.
I hope my photographs do justice in a small way to Seville it is such a beautiful place and I hope I have captured the spirit and feel of the place.
