OTTERS
The Isle of Skye has a fairly healthy population of Sea Otters and so for those who understand their habitat and feeding habits sighting them is possible.
That said sightings are from a distance with a pair of binoculars in the main. However on a number of occasions I have been lucky enough to observe and watch them at very close quarters.
The images in this gallery came from just such an early morning encounter.
This dog Otter which I had been silently observing suddenly came towards me and briefly climbed onto rocks in front of me.
As luck would have it I had my camera with me and the correct lens on it, trying to keep my hand steady when I was so excited was not easy. My heart was pounding !
